Investing in a Bicycle Could Make Inner City Living Easier

Investing in a Bicycle Could Make Inner City Living Easier / Blog Simplicity in Vogue / @ByAndreaB - wellness, wellbeing, lifestyle blog, why you should have a bicycle

Cyclists tend to get a bit of a bad rep when you talk to other road users. But really, they are individuals who are helping the planet at the same time as helping themselves and you may well want to join their ranks! Here are just a few ways that riding a bicycle can help to make inner city living a fair bit easier and a lot more pleasant!

Safety First

Before we get started, let’s focus on riding your bicycle safely in inner cities. Every year, numerous people will find themselves in some sort of collision or accident when riding a bicycle through urban areas. There are various reasons for this, but a lot of the time, accidents can be put down to poor road or weather conditions, or someone in a vehicle not seeing you and knocking you. When you ride a bicycle, you rely a whole lot more on your own balance to keep upright, you are exposed to the elements, and you are a lot smaller than other vehicles on the road.

These are all factors that make you relatively vulnerable. If you do experience an accident, make sure to reach out to a bike accident attorney as soon as possible. If you haven’t experienced an accident, make sure to wear high-quality safety gear (including a helmet), to fit a light and bell to your bicycle to alert others to your presence and to clear your way, and to always use cycle paths when they are available.

Now, onto the benefits of riding a bicycle in the city! Here are just a few different pros that might encourage you to hit the road with some peddle power!

1- Beat Traffic

Inner city commuting can have all sorts of detrimental impacts on your health and wellbeing. You can minimise the amount of time that it takes you to get into your workplace by cycling rather than driving or taking the bus. This will allow you to pass through traffic seamlessly.

2 - Health

Cycling is a great form of exercise that can improve your stamina, help you with your balance, and provide you with a top quality cardiovascular workout. Cycling instead of driving can contribute significantly towards your recommended 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week.

3 - Environmental Impact

Nowadays, increasing numbers of people tend to worry about the detrimental impact that our behaviour has on the planet and the people, animals, and plants that inhabit it. Riding a bicycle can help to minimise your guilt and contribute towards your attempts to make the world a greener place. They do not emit any emissions while getting you from A to B!

As you can see, riding a bicycle can come hand in hand with some significant benefits. Just remember to follow our safety advice above, and everything should come together perfectly! I hope you liked today's post! Let me know what you think about it! Do you enjoy riding a bicycle?

See you soon! :)
