Creating Successful Freebies for Your Blog

Creating Successful Freebies for Your Blog / Blog Simplicity in Vogue / @ByAndreaB - blogging tips, blogger tips, free downloads, freebies, modest blogger, lifestyle blogger

Offering digital freebies to your blog readers is a great way to get them more engaged. You can use them to get people to subscribe to your blog or sign up to your newsletter. Or you might just have them as something extra that you give to your readers, so they get more value from your blog. If you've decided that you want to offer some freebies to your audience, you need to create something that they'll enjoy and find useful. Digital products are easy to provide because you can create them cheaply and offer them for download. Take a look at these tips for getting it right.

Think of Something Valuable to Your Readers

Before you make anything, you need to come up with a plan. Your aim is to offer something to your audience that they will find valuable, but it also has to help you in some way. Is it going to be tied into your newsletter or maybe a competition? Perhaps it's a free sample of a paid product. I personally created a separated page with a password where my readers need to sign up to my newsletter to get access to that password. You can check my freebies page here: Free Resources Page.

If you're not sure yet what you're going to offer, think about what could benefit your audience. What information or tools will they find handy? A guide to finding their signature style or living a more meaningful life? A content calendar that they can fill out each month? A motivational digital poster?

Learn to Make Good Graphics

While your freebie needs to have useful information in it, it also needs to look good. The addition of professional images and graphics will make sure your digital freebie is attractive, as well as useful. Using Illustrator training from Training Connection, you can learn how to make quality graphics for your freebies. Of course, you can apply your new skills to many other things too, so it benefits you in various ways. For example, you can create infographics, logos and banners. You could even start selling your new skills.

Learn to Design Page Layouts

The overall layout of your freebie needs to look good too, and you might need to think about some practical elements. You need to consider what you're making, what format you want it to be in (such as PDF) and which program to use to achieve what you want. For example, if you want to make a PDF that has sections that can be filled out, you'll need to use Adobe Acrobat or another tool capable of making it. You could use InDesign, Microsoft Publisher or a number of other tools. You might want to learn about how to create smart and readable layouts for ebooks or other documents.

Add Extra Value with Your Download

When you upload your download on your blog, think about how you're going to get people to download it. You could link it to your newsletter signup or blog subscription, encouraging people to swap their email address for a freebie. You might run a competition, or you could even put something within the freebie itself, such as an offer code or something else that encourages people to engage further with your products or services.

Free downloads for your blog audience can be an excellent way to entice new readers and keep existing ones engaged.

I would love to hear from you in the comments! Let me know what are your thoughts about freebies.

See you soon! :)

xx,
Andrea
