Simplicity in Vogue - @ByAndreaB / OOTD // Quick annoucements + 2 outfits + Festive Lights at the mall - Christmas, decor, mall, shopping, festive lights, ootd, hijab, style, fashion, modesty, modest fashion, modest style, turban, turban style, how to wear, winter fashion, autumn fashion

Today I'll be sharing some announcements and updates I made on my blog, two outfits I wore recently, the festive lights at the shopping centre near my home and my view about Christmas as a Muslim girl who lives with Christian parents.

Hi, everyone! I've been a bit absentee here. I haven't updated my blog since October, although I've been working a lot here on some 'behind the scenes' stuff. Some of these, I can already reveal. First of all, I've set up a new newsletter. You can subscribe to it here to get to know about new blog posts updates, exclusive freebies, news and much more. The emails will be sent on Saturdays, whenever I update the blog on that week.

When you subscribe to my newsletter, you will also receive the password to access my new Free Resources page. It's a place where you can find and download printables like posters, checklists, calendars, workbooks, ebooks, and much more. Bear in mind that the page is new, so it doesn't have all those things yet. But I'll keep it always updated with something new and I'll let you know by email or in a new post.

I also created some pages with a selection of my favourites products that you can buy by clicking on it or just get some inspiration. I'll also keep those pages always updated with new products. The first page is Shop My Instagram Look, it's where you can find all my outfit's details with identical or similar pieces for you to buy or simply get some inspiration from my style. The second page is Shop My Favourites and there, you will find modest, minimal, effortlessly chic pieces from clothing to jewellery, to scarves, shoes and bags.

The third page is called Shop Gifts for Girl Bosses. You will find there a selection of fun, cool and pretty items that are perfect for the boss lady within you or for that friend who loves hustling hard to achieve her dreams. The fourth page is Shop My Home Decor Favourites. Everything from rugs to pillows, to candles, wall art, planters, storage baskets, cute jewellery trays, and much more.

The fifth page is Shop Gifts for Travel Lovers, full of fun, cool and helpful products that are perfect for the wanderer within you or for that friend who loves travelling. Finally, the last shopping page is called Shop Vegan/Cruelty-Free Beauty Products. The name says it all, plus most of the products are made with natural ingredients that are great for your skin, free of harsh chemicals and some are even organic and gluten-free. Last but not least, I created a Work With Me page, where I shared information about how we can work together. You can also find all the links I mentioned here on my Welcome page, where you will find the most important links to guide you on my blog. Or here, if you only want to see my shopping pages list.

Now, let's focus on the main subject of this post. Shall we? Without further ado...

As a muslim, I don't celebrate Christmas. Jesus is an important prophet and messenger of God for us, but we only celebrate two holidays: Eid al-Fitr (the end of Ramadan) and Eid al-Adha. Besides, Jesus wasn't really born in December. I was raised Christian and even I knew that since my childhood. However, I love seeing the city decorated with all those lights. I think it's really pretty and we can't deny it.

Additionally, my entire family are Christians and I still live with my parents. They celebrate it, decorate our home, make family dinners and give away presents. I simply can not hide in my bedroom during the entire Christmas season and leave my parents alone. It's not how Islam teaches us to treat our parents or anyone from other religion.

So, although I don't celebrate Christmas as a religious thing, for me it's still a special time to be around my family, especially my parents and they also do the same for me during Ramadan. This is just to clarify to my muslim and non-muslim readers what are my views about it as you will see in my pictures some Christmas decorations and trees.

Both outfits that I'm sharing today, I wore to go to the same place, the shopping centre (or mall, whatever you prefer :P)  Rio Mar. I actually went there last month (November), so I don't really remember what I went to do there when I wore this first outfit. I just know that I decided to take some shots of my outfit there because I love those festive lights. As you know, I have a more classic/minimalist style and my wardrobe is full of black and grey pieces. However, I love adding a pop of colour to spice up things a little bit and make the outfit less boring. This time, I chose this scarf in a cherry shade.

This second outfit, I wore when I went to see a ballet from Russia. It was on the theatre inside the shopping centre. I just love ballet so much. You guys have no idea. I wanted to be a ballerina when I was a child, but because we lived in a small town, we didn't have those things there, and so my future as a famous ballerina was ruined, :( haha.

I love the scarf I wore on that day, but because it's shimmery and I'm such a basic kind of girl, I almost never wear it. Fortunately, I have those few occasions where I can dress up a little bit fancier.
