Birthday outfit // Blue striped shirt

hijab, turban, modest fashion, zara, trend, ootd, minimalist, style

So, my birthday was on May 10. I can't believe I'm already 27 now! It seems like yesterday that I turned 20, and I still feel like it, or maybe 18 or even 16 sometimes haha. Seriously, it's scary to know that time flies as soon as we become an adult. I don't even feel like one yet, to be honest, maybe I have Peter Pan Syndrome. We should be born with a button, so we could just click and instantly feel like an independent grown up. I haven't accomplished half of the things I expected either. So that feeling that I have only 3 more years till I'm 30 to accomplish them makes my anxiety a bit worse. But you know what? We just need to:

  • Relax;
  • Enjoy the journey;
  • Live life as if each day was the last day, appreciating and being grateful for it, and never leaving for tomorrow what we can do today;
  • Have as much quality time as we can with our loved ones;
  • Work to reach our goals, but always remember that one step at a time is better than not walking at all;
  • Have faith in God and that He will never leave you alone;
  • Believe in yourself and all the rest will fall into place.

Anyway, let's talk about my outfit that is the main topic of this blog post. Shall we?

My birthday was on a Wednesday, and I had an "unofficial" celebration with my parents. We went out for coffee and later on, we had a cake at home. But the "official" celebration was on Saturday because Sunday would be Mother's Day and we could celebrate mom and daughter together. So this outfit was from Saturday. I haven't really planned it because when I say celebration, it's not a big party, it's just me, my parents and maybe some other relatives and close neighbours. I'm not a party girl, I don't have lots of friends and most of my closest ones don't even live here in my city or country. These small gatherings are a thing my mom always like to do as a rite of passage or a family tradition.  If it were up to me, I wouldn't do anything, or maybe just a dinner in some restaurant.

So as I said, I haven't planned the outfit. The shirt I had bought some days before my birthday, and I really liked the embroidery on the back and the front tie. The skinny jeans are my go-to for every occasion. But I wish I had chosen something not so tight, like the jogging one I wore in this post, as the shirt was shorter than what I usually wear with this kind of jeans. I only noticed that after I took the pics. Anyway, these shoes I had worn only once in the new year eve. I rarely wear high heels nowadays, but it was my birthday so I thought: yeah, let's make this sacrifice lol. The scarf is an old one I bought in London last year. I was also wearing my wedding ring and my watch that were gifts from my husband, so I wore them to feel him with me as we couldn't be together this time. Wedding rings aren't a tradition in Islam, so I don't really wear it every day.

Now, let's leave the outfit. I'll show you the cake because there's no fun if a birthday party has no cake, especially if your soul is still a child like mine. :) And my baby plants, look at them how cute they are! :p

So, did you like today's outfit? What do you usually do on your birthday? Do you celebrate it or not and how do you feel about getting older? I would love to hear from you in the comments! :)

See you in the next post!

xoxo,
Andrea
